The Board has proposed changes to its current licensing law primarily due to changes in the administration of the national examinations. The fundamentals of engineering and surveying examinations are transitioning to a computer based exam format, the length of those examinations will change, and one of the professional engineering examinations has changed from an 8-hour format to a 16-hour format. The cost of some of the examinations already exceeds the maximum amount the board is authorized to charge and additional cost increases are anticipated. The proposed legislation is available on the website at www. bels.alabama.gov.
